Amendment No.4: Delete North–South Avenue / Links objective where no longer required due to revised bridge and street layout
It is proposed to delete the objective in the Development Areas section on page 115 of the Planning Scheme, which states:
"To provide a new north-south avenue/links connecting Thomas Omer Way, Clonburris North East, and Clonburris South East."
A review of the street hierarchy and urban structure within the SDZ has determined that this north-south avenue is no longer required. The function of this link, which was initially intended to support Gallanstown as a local node, is being proposed to be relocated to Canal Park South as part of the proposed non-material amendments.
The deletion ensures that the street network remains efficient and adaptable, preventing the provision of unnecessary road infrastructure and avoiding redundancy in connectivity planning. The revised approach prioritises sustainable and active travel, integrating pedestrian and cycle routes within the existing movement framework while ensuring a strong link between key development areas.
This amendment streamlines the transport strategy within Clonburris North West, ensuring that future development aligns with compact growth principles and sustainable mobility objectives while optimising land use for residential and community needs.
