Amendment No.14: Remove the Canal Extension from the Clonburris Core catchment to reflect independent service provision
It is proposed to amend the Clonburris catchment area to exclude the Canal Extension development area located to the south of the Grand Canal. This amendment is intended to clarify and more accurately reflect the catchment boundaries for each urban centre within the SDZ, ensuring consistency between planned service delivery and spatial designations.
The Canal Extension area is currently being brought forward by South Dublin County Council as a residential development within the SDZ, supported by existing and planned services located to the south of the canal. It is progressing independently of the Clonburris Core Area and is not reliant on the phased delivery of infrastructure or amenities within the Core for its development.
As such, this amendment is a technical clarification of catchment delineation and has no implications for SDZ phasing, infrastructure sequencing, or delivery timelines. It is proposed to update Figure 2.4.1 to reflect this revised catchment boundary.
