Core Strategy Tables – 10, 11 - Disparity Between LAP and CDP on Population targets.
A core principle driving how we live in SDCC is population targets. These need to align with the national planning framework and also across LAPs and the County Development plans.
We have already flagged concerns at the lack of alignment in the TTCLAP and the National Planning Framework of Ireland 2040, with no satisfactory response or alignment on that.
This County Dev plan and the proposed amendments again do not show a read across with the Tallaght LAP. The TTCLAP’s target for population growth, which are cited by developers in applications to develop, do not appear to harmonise with the proposed CDP, as amended. By a large margin.
The TTCLAP cites growth targets of 38K people, over a “number of plans”. The draft CDP now cites the population target for Tallaght as 5.1K in 6 years.
- We need to ask for clarity on this fundamental issue again that will drive and guide development in Tallaght.
- The TTCLAP needs to qualify it’s population target in real time terms, based on the overall County Development plan’s pace of growth.
- Which is the “real population target” guiding Tallaght in a sustainable fashion ?
