Chapter 6: Homes, Community and Employment
Chapter 6: Community, Homes and Employment
This chapter looks at the need for community facilities and infrastructure, such as schools, childcare, open space, community centres, to meet the needs of Clondalkin as it grows. It outlines some of the more recent community infrastructure that has been provided and some of the gaps in provision with associated objectives to remedy them.
The chapter also examines the need for new homes in the context of the targets set out in the County Development Plan and revised targets and guidelines from Government. The need for new homes to add to the existing housing mix and cater for a diverse household type is recognised.
Finally, the chapter looks at employment within the plan area. Town Health Checks carried out by the Planning Department have found a vibrant and diverse retail and services mix within and around the village with very little vacancy. The plan sets out objectives to support tourism through new placemaking schemes and by supporting the South Dublin Tourism Strategy.
