Litir Chumhdaigh

My name is John Kiberd and I am the main co-ordinator of Tallaght Litter Mugs. I am familiar with the Rathcoole Woodlands and believe that this wonderful natural ecosystem services resource should be preserved for current and future generations. I am making this submission on behalf of the Tallaght Litter Mugs.

Chapter 2: Core Strategy and Settlement Strategy

Select Proposed Amendment on which you are commenting:

With reference to the proposed new CS10 SLO1 and the proposed revised zoning:

We call on South Dublin County Council to preserve all of the rewilded area as outlined in the map attached, which includes Rathcoole Woodlands comprising both annex and non-annex woodland, and associated mosaic of habitats. We believe the proposed/revised zoning objectives for Map 8 and their configuration, in particular the placing of the RES-N New Residential, will not support the preservation and conservation of the rewilding area. We encourage the Council to put in place zoning which has at the heart of it, nature conservation and preservation for this unique and valuable area. We consider high amenity zoning to be the best zoning for the entire rewilding area and the Rural Zoning to be the second favoured zoning. We also urge the Council to reconsider the proposed rezoning of Annex Lowland Hay Meadow from Open Space to RES-N New Residential.
