Chapter 6: Housing
1 The County Council should include a policy to provide Independent living for the elderly in Rathcoole , Saggart and Newcastle , areas that have the oldest populations in South County Dublin , and , in doing so to satisfy the growing demand for downsizing from existing residences to more suitable accommodation for their needs with access to local amenities . This will have the added benefit of releasing housing stock used by single or small families to larger families and assisting with the homeless situation in the area
This Council agrees that the Housing Officer liaises with Agencies such as the HSE, Department of Education . Age Friendly Ireland and voluntary organisations such as the Four Districts Day Care CLG, a local Charity that has almost 40 years of experience in dealing with the elderly . This to be aligned to the Age Friendly County Strategy 2020-24 launched in September 2020
