I fully support Walking and Cycling and Public transport, and would walk or get a bus or train before i use the car whenever possible. But i feel that these amendments are to to dissuade future residents in this development from using cars as one of their means of travel. And this is being done by making the provision of parking spaces and the ability to charge an EV vehicle uncertain and not guaranteed .
Removing the vehicular bridge from South to North could prove a costly mistake in the future as there are serious backlogs of traffic at the Kishoge and Clonburris ends of the south link Road, and this is not only at peak times. So i respectively suggest that SDCC do another all day Systra survey at all the junctions.
Removing this vechicular route could also obstruct the exiting of the emergency services from the proposed Fire Station within this development . The south Link Street has no dedicated Bus lanes so in the event of traffic congestion they new proposed bus routes 77 and L71 will also be hemmed in. There is also no Bus lane on the Northbound section of the R113 from the roundabout on New Nangor Road to the junction at Thomas Omer Way and 9th lock Road.
Development of 7 mills on the North side of Fonthill Road Railway station hasn't commenced yet , and consideration should be given to providing a Bus Lane alongside the Boundary and the existing pedestrian and cycle way here. Preparation has also begun on the Cappagh part of the SDZ and its boundaries, and if the 9th Lock Road is being widened as it appears to be i would hope it incorporates a Bus lane.
Regards and hope you give these observations some consideration.
C Conway.
