I support sustainable transport and reducing unnecessary car dependency. However, I am concerned that Amendment 9 describes Clonburris as an area “served by high-quality public transport” when this does not reflect the current experience of residents in Seven Mills.

Seven Mills currently has no bus service. Major planned improvements to rail provision are also not yet operational. Residents therefore remain dependent on private vehicles for many everyday journeys.

Parking policy and any decisions to restrict parking provision should be based on the public transport actually available to residents at the time, rather than future infrastructure which has not yet been delivered.

I therefore ask that any reduction or restriction in parking associated with car parking management or modal-shift objectives be conditional upon adequate public transport being delivered and operational. Residents should not lose necessary parking in anticipation of transport alternatives that they cannot yet use.
