Observations

Need to further protect residential amenity

Caibidil:
Ábhair:

I would like the council to further strengthen MA14.1 to protect residential amenity for the residents in Hermitage Park. The MA needs to state that any planning application on these lands cannot exit the lands through Hermitage Park / Hermitage Gardens. The section of wall isn't wide enough and would injure the residential amenity of the adjoining area. It would cause additional traffic exiting from Hermitage Park where currently only 2-3 cars exit on each turn of the lights and parking issues within the estate.

Support for MA Finnstown Castle

Ábhair:

I support MA 3.1 to remove Amendment no 3 and not rezone Finnstown Castle lands.

This land is adjacent to a 200-year old building and any development would injure the character and setting of this historic and protected building.

This area of Lucan needs green spaces and zoning this land as a high amenity area will ensure that the area has biodiversity and green space to help the residents breathe.

The road outside Finnstown Castle is already heavily congested with traffic from Newcastle and Adamstown.

Support for MA 6.1

Ábhair:

I fully support MA6.1 and the decision by the councillors to remove the proposal to rezone the lands at St. Edmundsbury.

I strongly object to the proposal to rezone St. Edmundsbury.

  • This land is part of the green corridor leading into the Liffey Valley Strategic Amenity (SAA).
  • This green connection is essential for safeguarding biodiversity, landscape value and public amenity in the wider Liffey Valley.
  • This land is one of the remaining open green, agricultural spaces along the Liffey Valley, home to established ecosystems and should be purchased by the state to safeguard it for future generations.
  • The land supports a diverse wildlife habitats including species protected under Irish & EU Law. Many residents share sightings of foxes, badgers, barn owls, yellow hammer, red kites, bats, rare butterflies and more. A full wildlife audit is needed for this area to ensure that their habitats are properly protected.
  • This land is has protected and historic buildings and has natural hedgerows and woodland.
  • The Lucan Road adjacent to this land is already a rat run from those avoiding the M50 toll and is blocked daily at all times of the day with traffic heading to and through Lucan Village. This road can’t cope with any additional traffic.

Support for MA 2

Ábhair:

I fully support MA2.1.

In particular it is extremely important that no additional residential development starts until additional transport like Dart+ Southwest or an equivalent rail service is operational.

It's also important that additional school places are made available before additional residents move in so all students can have a space in their local school.

I'm pleased to see the addition of a social infrastructure audit and provision within the development proposals to address any needs. This will help to reduce any gaps before they occur.

I also appreciate the open space audit to ensure proper public spaces are made available for current and future residents.

Support MA 2.2

Ábhair:

I fully support that there is no bulk purchase of any residential developments to allow individuals and families to purchase a home.

Support for MA17.1 and request for thorough assessment

Ábhair:

I support MA17.1 to ensure a transport assessment takes place before any development begins. This assessment should include actual experiences and not just a review of current provisions from a desk. Our current transport has been deemed adequate by some however people still can't get on buses as they are full especially in the morning and evenings.

Support for MA17.2

Ábhair:

I strongly support the need to ensure a plan led approach for any future strategic development area within Adamstown South and West (outer).

Developments of the size proposed, need to have facilities and services as listed in MA17.2. We also need to ensure that they are provided and not removed later in the development phase.
