I object to the proposed development of an astro park. Presently the park is used by all young and old for many types of activities. Walking, jogging, exercising, yoga, flying kites, dog walking is very popular, throwing frisbee, children playing, Greenhills AFC and Greenhills College train and play football fixtures, along with the sports day for the college and the summer leagues for the children to mention a few. To be in the park is a joy for all, if this development went ahead it would cancel out these activities as a 4 meter high fence would stop the general public from using this part of the park. The smaller upper part of the park has a bowling green and a football pitch which is fenced around and this leaves little open space.
There would be tunnel walk around 3 sides of this proposed development as one side we have a hedged fence and then we would have a 4 meter fence on the other side. This would be uncomfortable for a lot of people.
I object to the development being built so close to the residents homes. I object to 6 floodlighting towers proposed for this development with the lights being on till 10PM weekdays and 9PM Saturday and Sunday. Then there is the noise from whistle blowing, raised voices from coaches and supporters. Add to this all the extra traffic noise, emissions from the vehicles and there is little parking available in the area. 1 rugby match would attract 40+ players, 8+ coaching & medical, family & supports 30+. This figure of 78 is very conservative, where would they park, where would the clubs booked in next, park and if it was a fixture of high interest a final or an end of season fixture many more would come to cheer their team on.
Greenhills Park is surrounded by a quite residential area. I have done many of the healthy activities I mentioned above when I was a child, now when I am in the park I see the children, people young and old doing the same. Elderly people and their carers use this park for a stroll as they live so near. Greenhills Park a beautiful space, let us keep it this way.
