CCTV & Journey Time Management Systems
South Dublin County Council’s Land Use Planning & Transportation Department currently operates CCTV systems and a Journey Time Management System across the county.

These systems process data which is necessary for the performance of our tasks carried out in the public interest, or in the exercise of official authority vested in South Dublin County Council in accordance with
Article 6(1) (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation, 2016
Roads Act 1993, as amended
Section 13(7) A road authority may do all such things as arise out of or are consequential on or are necessary or expedient for the performance of its functions under this Act or otherwise in relation to public roads or are ancillary thereto. Defined in the Roads Act 1993 Section 2 “roads” (d)Any other structure or thing forming part of the road and— (i) necessary for the safety, convenience or amenity of road users or for theconstruction, maintenance, operation or management of the road or forthe protection of the environment
Local Government Act 2000, as amended
Section 65.—(1) A local authority may do anything ancillary, supplementary or incidental to or consequential on or necessary to give full effect to, or which will facilitate or is conducive to the performance of, a function conferred on it by this or any other enactment or which can advantageously be performed by the authority in conjunction with the performance of such a function.
(2) The reference in subsection (1) to a function conferred on a local authority shall be read as including—
(a) all such functions as may at any material time stand conferred on the local authority by or under any enactment (including this Act and any other enactment whether enacted before or after this Act),
(b) the provision of offices, equipment or the doing of anything else which is necessary for or related to the general operation, organisation or administration of the authority.
(3) Every enactment relating to a function of a local authority shall be read and have effect in accordance with this section.
Health Safety & Welfare at Work Act 2005
Section 8 which requires every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety, health and welfare at work of his or her employees.
The types of processing include collection, recording, storage, erasure, and / or destruction of personal data.
In accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), Article 35 “Data Protection Impact Assessment”, the Council is seeking the views of data subjects, or their representatives, on the processing of their personal data for the systems referred to above, without prejudice to the protection of commercial or public interests or the security of processing operations.
