Chapter 8: Urban Design Strategy
Chapter 8: Urban Design Strategy
This chapter of the LPF brings together the objectives of the previous chapters, focusing on their contribution at both the site and wider plan level to a sustainable and coherent approach to urban design. It does this by setting out overarching objectives relating to urban design and by applying the objectives of the previous chapters through to the different geographies of the framework and opportunity sites.
The Strategy draws on the unique assets of Clondalkin to ensure that new development respects the historic character and key features within the historic core of the village, through a careful approach to placemaking. In the wider environs principles for development are set out to ensure that growth reflects both its geographic and planning policy context.
The chapter includes development parameters for the larger framework sites and for the village centre alongside some smaller opportunity sites. It also provides development parameters for proposed village enhancement schemes with accompanying graphics to give an impression of what the schemes could look like.
