Amendment 2.2

It it wise to make projection comply with RSES and this amendment is sensible however it appears to be in glarng contrast to the figures in the Tallaght Town Centre Local Area plan,  In Amendment 2.2 a figure of a 26% increase is mentioned.    However in the Tallaght Town Centre Local Area Plan,   the population from 2016 to  number of plan periods goes from 6126 in 2016 to 38000 after a number of plan periods. This is a percengage incrases of over six times that is 600%,  compared with the 26% increase in Amendment 2.2 this appears massively excessive even allowing for the term "after a number of plan periods" which lacks precision.   As precision should now be possible as the council has analysed the figures more closefly recently , can they clarify why there is this this disparity, as we see it, explain the different,  stated what the Tallaght Town Centre Local area plan will be in 2028 and ensuire that the Local Area Plan and the County Development are harmonised.  Thank you.

Policy/Objective No.  Insert New Text - 2.5.1 South Dublin County Population - Baseline
Text/Policy/Objective Amendment Wording

As per EMRA Requirements Insert new text after Table 4 to read:

The population projections for the County over the plan period 2022 – 2028 have been applied in accordance with the RSES which has been guided by the National Planning Framework Implementation Roadmap. The Roadmap acknowledges the transition of implementing Development Plans and provides scope to bring forward population figures of +25% up to 2026. This simply allows the 2031 targets to be front loaded, it does not provide for the exceedance of the 2031 high figure. The Roadmap outlines South Dublin as a County where this adjustment can be applied. The 2022 – 2028 Development Plan has applied this population adjustment in light of strong construction activity, completed residential units since 2016 and the continued demand for housing within the County.
