Objection to permeable routes into Floraville estate.
I would like to express my concerns regarding future planning permissions in our area, particularly in relation to the proposed pedestrian routes PER 2, PER 3, PER 4, and PER 5 through Floraville estate. Based on past experience, these routes were previously closed due to significant issues with anti-social behavior (ASB), and reinstating them could potentially recreate the same challenges.
It is important to recognize that post-implementation safety measures are often neither practical nor effective, and can place a considerable financial burden on taxpayers. For instance, increased ASB cannot simply be handed over to An Garda Síochána to resolve, and reversing established routes through political channels can be a complex and resource-intensive process.
Given these concerns, I respectfully object to the inclusion of the aforementioned pedestrian routes in any future development plans. I urge planners and decision-makers to prioritize community safety and draw on the lessons of past experience in order to avoid repeating previous mistakes.
