Objection to Proposed Development of Finnstown Castle Lands
I object to the proposed residential development of the Finnstown Castle lands.
The County Development Plan already identifies the south and west of Adamstown as the appropriate locations for future housing growth. Developing the Finnstown Castle lands would be inconsistent with this planned approach and would result in the unnecessary loss of one of the last significant green spaces serving Adamstown and South Lucan.
These lands provide important environmental, biodiversity and recreational benefits for existing and future residents. The area is already experiencing pressure on transport, schools, healthcare and community facilities, and further high-density development should not proceed until supporting infrastructure is in place.
I respectfully request that the Finnstown Castle lands remain protected as open space and that this proposal be rejected in the interests of proper planning and the sustainable development of the area.
