Retain St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity Land

Ábhair:

I support retaining St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity Land for the following reasons:

1. These lands are highly important as a source of biodiversity for the area. As it stands, a large number of developments are ongoing, or are due to begin. The National Planning Framework places an emphasis on the need for green spaces where the public can interact with nature. Further development here removes another large green space and flies in the face of this.

2. Keeping the space as high amenity enhances the amenity of the area and preservers heritage for future generations to enjoy, as there are lots of new and young families in the immediate area, and the areas surrounding Lucan.

3. Even as a relatively new resident of Lucan, it is apparent that facilities have not kept up pace with the rapidly growing population. Transport is not reliable or frequent enough, and capacity of trains and buses is a massive issue for Lucan. The same is true for access to healthcare. Adding another development to the are will only serve to compound these issues, with no strategy for mitigation.
