I agree and fully support the proposal to retain the wonderful St. Edmundsbury as high amenity lands.
Any changes to these unique lands would have detrimental affects on the ecosystems, green infrastructures, landscapes, heritage, nature, flora, fauna, wildlife and the biodiversity currently in St. Edmundsbury that have been there for hundreds and hundreds of years.
A substantial proportion of these lands should now be brought into public ownership to ensure the protection of this vital resource for future generations. In addition, some of these lands can be used to provide playing pitches for the growing population of Lucan. There has been very few new facilities developed since the opening of Griffeen Valley Park some 40 years ago. A development of similar scale is now urgently required. These playing facilities should be developed in partnership with the existing sports clubs in Lucan to ensure maximised utilisation and benefit.
