PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING PROGRAMME 2026/2027

Under Section 38 of the 1994 Road Traffic Act, a Road Authority may in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users provide such traffic calming measures as it considers desirable in respect of a public road in its charge. South Dublin County Council proposes to install traffic calming measures, subject to available funding at the following locations:

Clondalkin (including Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart & Brittas)

  • Corkagh Grange Estate (1 no. speed ramp at public lighting column 5 Corkagh Grange Avenue near 1 Ash Lawn, Corkagh Demesne)
  • Deansrath & Melrose Estate (2 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at the junction of Deansrath Road/Deansrath Green & Melrose Road/Melrose Avenue)
  • Nano Nagle Junior National School (1 no. junction tightening at junction of Ashwood Road/Bawnogue Road)
  • Forest Hills Estate (1 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at junction on Forest Hill, Rathcoole with Rathcoole Football Club).
  • Woodford Estate (3 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at the junctions of Woodford Villas/Woodford Road, Woodford Drive/Woodford Drive [junction near 11 Woodford Road] & Woodford Drive/Woodford Hill)
  • Woodford Hill (1 no. removal of existing bus cushions and replacement with bus ramp at public lighting column 10 Woodford Hill, near 20 Woodford View).
  • Woodford Walk (3 no. removal of existing bus cushions and replacement with bus ramp at public lighting column 4 Woodford Walk, near 1A Monksfield Meadows, public lighting column 5 Woodford Walk, near 38 Woodford Meadows & public lighting column 10 Woodford Walk, near 117 Castle View Road).
  • Cherrywood Villas (5 no. removal of existing bus cushions and replacement with bus ramp at: Public lighting column 28 Cherrywood Villas, near 1 Cherrywood Park, 54 Cherrywood Villas, 32 Cherrywood Villas, 27 Cherrywood Villas & Public lighting column 7 Cherrywood Villas, near 24 Cherrywood Grove.

 

Lucan, Palmerstown, North Clondalkin

  • Meadowview Grove Estate (3 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at the junction of Meadowview Grove/Hillcrest Cl, Westbrook Park/Meadowview Grove & Meadowview Grove/Hillcrest Walk and Hillcrest Heights)
  • Meadowview Grove Estate (1 no. speed ramp at 67 Meadowview Grove)
  • Sarsfield Park Estate (3 no. Speed ramps at 73, 63 and 124 Sarsfield Park)
  • Moy Glas Estate (1 no. Speed ramp at 31 Moy Glas Avenue)
  • Moy Glas Estate (2 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at junction of Moy Glas Drive/Moy Glas Ave & Moy Glas Park/Moy Glas Ave)
  • Liscarne Gardens (1 no. Speed ramp at 72 Liscarne Gardens)
  • Moorfield Estate (2 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at the junction of Moorfield Drive/Moorfield Avenue & Moorfield Drive/Moorfield Close)
  • Cloverhill Lodge Estate (uncontrolled pedestrian crossing on Cloverhill Road by the entrance to Cloverhill Lodge Estate)
  • Ninth Lock Road (1 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at junction of Neilstown Road/Ninth Lock Road)

Tallaght

  • Citywest Road, Fortunestown (3 no. bus ramps at public lighting columns 19, 24 and 31 Citywest Road, Fortunestown)
  • Sylvan Close (1 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at the junction of Sylvan Close & Sylvan Drive)
  • Corbally Estate (2 no. speed ramps at 14 Corbally Park and public lighting column 3 Corbally Heath near 14 Corbally Heath)
  • Corbally Estate (1 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at the junction of Corbally Heath and Corbally Park)
  • Garrynisk Estate (1 no. raised uncontrolled pedestrian crossing at 3 Garrynisk Road and 1 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at junction of Kingswood Avenue/Garrynisk Road)
  • Kiltalown Shops (2 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at the junction of Kiltalown Way/Montpelier Walk & Kiltalown Road/Avenue/Montpelier Walk
  • Deerpark Estate (2 no. speed ramps at 34 Deerpark Avenue & public lighting column 8 Deerpark Avenue near 82 Deerpark Avenue)
  • Carrigmore Estate (1 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at junction of Carrigmore Glen and Citywest Drive)

 

Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Firhouse, Bohernabreena

  • St. James’s Road (3 no. bus ramps at 76, 83 and 236 St. James’s Road)
  • Hillsbrook & Dangan Estate (2 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at junction of Hillsbrook Avenue/Drive & Dangan Park/Hillsbrook Drive)
  • Rossmore Estate (1 no. speed ramp at public lighting column 14 Rossmore Crescent near 81 Rossmore Lawns)
  • Rossmore Estate (1 no. junction tightening and pedestrian improvements at junction of Rossmore Lawns/Rossmore Crescent)
  • Boden Park Estate (1 no. speed ramp at 17 Boden Park Green)
  • St. Patrick’s Road (1 no. speed ramp at 5m south of public lighting column 10 St. Patrick’s Road near 119 St. Patrick’s Road)
  • Greenhills Road (3 no. bus ramps at public lighting columns P26, P29 & P31 Greenhills Road near Lidl, Greenhills Road)

Information of the proposed works will be available online on the Council’s Public Consultation Portal website (http://consult.sdublincoco.ie) during the period 24th November 2025 to 23rd December 2025.

Submissions

Submissions can be made using the CONSULTATIONS tab in South Dublin Council Council’s consultation portal.

Please indicate on any comments or submissions any specific location(s) to which your submission refers.

 Only one submission per household. Once works commence they cannot be reversed. Your preference on the proposed traffic calming measure can be made as follows…

• On South Dublin County Council’s Public Consultation Portal website http://consult.sdublincoco.ie under CONSULTATIONS from 24th November 2025 until midnight on 23rd December 2025.

• In writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Roads Department, Planning and Transport, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin D24 A3XC, from 24th November 2025 until 5.00pm on 23rd December 2025. Submissions should be clearly marked “Traffic Calming Programme 2026/2027”.

Submissions cannot be accepted in any other format.

All submissions received will be considered and will form part of the Chief Executive’s report on the public consultation process which will be presented to the Council.

It should be noted that the Freedom of Information Act, 1997 -2006 (amended) applies to all records held by South Dublin County Council.
