I am writing to express my strong support for the proposed development of a synthetic (astro) grass sports pitch in Greenhills Park.
Currently, the availability and quality of grass pitches limit opportunities for young people and local teams to train and play throughout the year. Poor weather and heavy use often make existing pitches unplayable for long periods, reducing participation and disrupting structured activity. A modern, all-weather facility would ensure that children, teenagers, and adults have a safe, consistent, and inclusive place to play sport in all seasons.
The addition of a synthetic pitch in Greenhills Park would:
Greatly improve access to high-quality sports facilities for the local community.
Support health, wellbeing, and social inclusion for people of all ages and abilities.
Strengthen community bonds by encouraging participation and volunteerism.
Maximise the use of existing public park space for positive, community-based activity.
I fully support this proposal and urge South Dublin County Council to grant permission for the development to proceed. It will provide lasting benefits to our community and future generations.
