Section 38 - Proposed Junction Upgrade at Old Nangor Road/Upper Nangor Road/Cherrywood Villas Junction, Clondalkin, Dublin 22
Under Section 38 of the 1994 Road Traffic Act, a Road Authority may in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users provide such traffic calming measures as it considers desirable in respect of a public road in its charge. South Dublin County Council (SDCC) is proposing the following improvement works to facilitate the improve the safety of vulnerable road users at this junction and improve connectivity for active travel users.
The current junction at this location does not facilitate pedestrian or cycle crossing facilities.
Description of proposed works:
Introduction of traffic signals on all approaches to the junction.
Introduction of dedicated cycle and pedestrian crossings across all junction arms.
Protected cycle infrastructure within the junction
The Section 38 Planning Proposal will be advertised in a local newspaper circulating in the area and the plans and particulars of the proposed measures are available for inspection online on the Council’s Public Consultation Portal website:http://consult.sdublincoco.ieduring the period from 11th May 2026 to 15th June 2026.

Submissions can be made using the Consultation tab in South Dublin Council Council’s consultation portal. Only one submission per household. Once works commence they cannot be reversed. Your submissions on the proposed works can be made as follows;

Please make your submission by one of the above methods only. Only submissions received as set out above will be considered. Submissions cannot be accepted in any other format or to any other postal address.
All submissions received will be considered and will form part of the Chief Executive’s report on the public consultation process which will be presented to the Council.
