Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Alan Edge, has opened this online Book of Condolence to allow people within South Dublin County to express their sympathies to the family and friends of Shane Mac Gowan.

Today we have lost an outstanding songwriter and a unique, raw and powerful voice whose music captured the lived experience of Irish emigrants the world over and gave us perhaps the most beautiful and poignant Christmas song ever written. RIP
