Primary tabs

The following works will be executed under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994

The purpose of this non-statutory consultation is to provide notice of South Dublin County Council’s intention to establish a “school street” on the cul-de-sac section of Old Bawn Avenue outside Scoilenna Maelruain Senior and Junior National Schools i.e., Old Bawn Avenue from south of the junction with Tymon Crescent. This school street has been identified as a key deliverable under the Safe Routes to Schools programme and will reduce the dangers presented to school children and their parents from cars at the school gate.

Between the hours of 0815 – 0915 and 1300 – 1500, Monday to Friday, vehicle access to the school street section of Old Bawn Avenue will be restricted to residents of the school street section of Old Bawn Avenue. Residents, pedestrians, and cyclists will continue to be able to access the school street through the day and week.

New regulatory traffic signs will be erected on Old Bawn Avenue and Tymon Cres relating to the changes.

Following establishment of the school street, additional placemaking and safety improvement works in the area will be carried out under Phase 1 of the Old Bawn to Ballyboden Active Travel Scheme.
