South Dublin County Councils Tree Management Policy serves as a strategic framework guiding decisions on the care, protection, and enhancement of the County’s tree stock. With the current Policy coming to the end of its lifecycle, the Council is undertaking a non-statutory consultation to review and update the document. This process aims to ensure that our approach to tree management remains relevant, responsive, and aligned with current best practices, Council aims and objectives and the evolving needs of our communities.
The policy provides a vital reference point for shaping consistent, informed, and transparent decision-making around the management, planting and maintenance of trees. It also helps establish a structured and proactive approach to managing tree-related issues across the County. Through this review, we aim to build on that foundation, promoting a healthier, more diverse, and sustainable tree population that contributes to the County’s green infrastructure, enhances biodiversity and improves quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
By inviting feedback through this consultation, we hope to encourage open dialogue, reflect local priorities, and strengthen the policy’s ability to support a greener future for everyone.
