On Thursday September 12th Mayor Vicki Casserly will officially launch on public display, the Proposed Draft Tallaght Town Centre Local Area Plan.  The Plan will guide the future growth of Tallaght over the next 6 years and beyond.  A six week public consultation period on the Draft Plan, will take place between Thursday 12th September until Thursday 24th October 2019.  More information is available at the consultation portal website: consult.sdublincoco.ie on the Draft Plan.

 

Building on Tallaght’s unique selling points, it has emerged over the past three decades as a centre of civic focus, playing host to a number of major institutions including Tallaght Hospital, Technological University Dublin/ Tallaght Campus- (TUD/TC), South Dublin County Council headquarters, Tallaght Stadium and the head office of the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board (formerly VEC). This area is also a thriving economic area and the local area plan seeks to reinforce Tallaght’s position as an employment and enterprise destination of regional significance.

 

Information

 

The Draft Local Area Plan will be available for inspection for a period from Thursday 12th September 2019 until Thursday 24th October 2019 inclusive. A leaflet and information can be viewed on the Councils website at consult.sdublincoco.ie.

 

The proposed Draft Local Area Plan and Environmental Report can be viewed on the Council’s website at https://www.sdcc.ie/ and can also be viewed at County Library and County Hall, Tallaght during normal opening hours [excluding public holidays]. Council staff will be available to answer queries at the County Library, Tallaght at the following times:

 

Monday 23rd September 1:00 - 4:00 pm

Tuesday 1st October 4:00 - 7:30 pm

Thursday 10th October 1:00 - 4:00 pm

Tuesday 15th October 4:00 - 7:30 pm

 

Council staff will also be available to answer general queries on the proposed Draft Local Area Plan on Wednesdays between 11-1pm during the public consultation period in the Foyer, Tallaght Council Offices, County Hall, during the public consultation. Submissions

Submissions and observations on the proposed Draft Local Area Plan and the Environmental Report should be made in ONE medium only to South Dublin County Council until 4.00pm on Thursday 24th October 2019 for postal submissions or as outlined at the following addresses:

 

Online:                        consult.sdublincoco.ie (up to midnight on the 24th of October 2019).

By Post:          Senior Executive Officer, Forward Planning Section, Land Use Planning and Transportation Department, South Dublin County Council, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24.

 

Submissions or observations cannot be accepted in any other format or to any other online or postal address. Submissions and observations should state the name, address, and where relevant, the body represented. Children, or groups of associations representing the interests of children, are entitled to make submissions or observations. All submissions and observations that are received up to 4.00pm on Thursday 24th October 2019 and that are addressed correctly and in the prescribed format will be taken into consideration before the making of the Draft Local Area Plan and its Environmental Report. 

 

In accordance with Section 20(3)(ja)(i) of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, written submissions or observations shall be published on the website of the Authority within 10 working days of its receipt by that Authority.

 

Update 12th December 2019:

Pursuant to Section 20(3)(c) of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended), the Chief Executive of South Dublin County Council prepared a report on the submissions and observations received during the recent public consultation and submitted this report to the Elected Members of the Council for their consideration.
