Leave Lucan Village Alone

I object to the loss of parking from Lucan Village and Main Street.

Removing parking will remove access to long standing local businesses and job losses. Restricting futher parking will destroy the character of the village. The character follows from the fact the village is a functioning business zone. Many of these businesses are used by a growing elderly population. The variety of local business currently enjoyed must be the envy of quite a few villages in Ireland already, protect it!!

We no longer have a florist, a jeweler, butchers. Local business means quite a lot to the residents of Lucan, residents should matter more than short term tourism or the availability of funds for a paving contractor. The character of the village will be ruined, reducing the area to a mini temple bar with litter and anti-social activity.

There are plenty of areas to improve - sort the wall opposite the Maxol Station around the Italian Embassy, it is unslightly and dangerous. Pouring concrete throughout the village as a solution is unsustatinable, environmentally unfriendly and is just paving over history!

As for seating, having seating near a bus stop would be a start. I suggest you check the latest bus stop installed at Courtneys, it is dangerous.
