Such is my concern on this issue that I interrupt my family holiday in August to make my opinions known (again) on this subject.  

I understand that we have a housing crisis in this country and indeed in this county and that significant and uncomfortable action needs to be made to resolve this problem.  As such I am commenting on only one element of this proposed material alteration to the county development plan.

I also understand that there are significant amount of lands zoned residential that are currently undeveloped in this county.  

St Edmonsbury is a pristine piece of land in the beautiful Liffey Valley which is protected by environmental designations.  Although my family and I don't  live beside it, we have spent many many hours in this stunning landscape over the years.  From the wildlife to the lush vegetation to the landscape, this is the jewel in the crown.  I know from previous generations in county councils both here and elsewhere that there were some visionary staff who bought land, who protected land and who made decisions that left an immense legacy for the generations that came after.  You now have an opportunity to leave such a legacy.  This land is precious, all of it.  I understand the proposals and believe that it should not be built on in any aspect.  It should be protected for the people of Lucan and beyond for many generations to come.   Long after the current council are looking for my and my family's votes. 

We the people of Lucan are watching this one very carefully.  My local councillors were given a mandate to represent me and should be very clear at this stage on my opinion and that of the majority of my community.
