I support the councils decision to retain these lands as high amenity. The intensity of development and increase in population in this part of Lucan requires adequate open green space to act as recreational amenity. As this site is part of an historical part of Lucan dating to before the 17th century it is of vital importance that it is maintained and that its cultural identity is not eroded. This decision is in keeping with the councils own policies against development at the site, having previously refused a single dwelling permission on the grounds of eroding the historical fabric of the landscape and altering its curtilage. It is inconceivable how a multi dwelling development would then somehow not alter it irreversibly.
