I am writing to formally express my strong opposition to any residential rezoning of the lands at St. Edmundsbury, Lucan, and to register my full support for Material Alteration MA6.1, which seeks to omit residential zoning proposals for these lands and preserve their intact High Amenity (HA) status. St. Edmundsbury forms a crucial green lung and ecological buffer within the Liffey Valley Strategic Amenity corridor, and developing these lands for housing would cause irreversible harm to local biodiversity, natural flood management, and the historic demesne setting of St. Edmundsbury House. Furthermore, suburban development on this site is entirely unsustainable given the severe existing traffic congestion across Lucan and the N4 corridor, alongside heavy oversubscription of local schools, healthcare, and community services. With strategic housing already being directed to nearby Strategic Development Zones at Adamstown and Clonburris, sacrificing high-amenity greenfield lands is completely unnecessary and premature. I respectfully urge South Dublin County Council to adopt Material Alteration MA6.1 in full, reject any residential proposals for St. Edmundsbury, and permanently maintain its High Amenity protection for the benefit of the community and the local environment.
