As an architecture student I support Proposed Material Alteration 6.1 retaining the High Amenity zoning at St Edmundsbury.

Good planning is about creating places that remain successful over many decades. The Liffey Valley is one of the defining landscape features of Lucan and contributes significantly to the identity and character of the area.

Open landscapes such as St Edmundsbury provide visual relief, reinforce the setting of the valley and help define the transition between the urban area and the natural landscape.

Once these landscape qualities are lost they cannot be recreated through landscaping or park design after development.

Retaining the existing High Amenity zoning is therefore consistent with creating a sustainable and distinctive place for future generations.
