Objection to the proposal to rezone Finnstown to residential
Observation
Finnstown Lands Should Be Rezoned High Amenity, not Residential
The lands at Finnstown should be rezoned High Amenity as soon as possible, not rezoned Residential. The surrounding area:
· Is already heavily congested with traffic,
· Lacks adequate green space relative to its existing and future population, and
· Functions as a much-needed open buffer and wildlife corridor in an increasingly built-up part of Lucan.
Further residential zoning would worsen congestion, reduce accessible recreation space, and strain services. This would again be opposite to compact, transport-oriented policy unless enabling transport capacity is real, and more importantly, delivered. We could be a decade away (or more) from Dart+ South West being in operation.
