I strongly support retaining the Finnstown Castle lands identified in MA3.1 as High Amenity land.

​This place is literally the last piece of untouched green space left between the Newcastle Road roundabout and Adamstown. Given how much building has been going on around here, we really need this green buffer, and it’s super important to protect it.

​The old trees, wildlife, and open grounds are amazing assets for both local nature and the neighborhood. With so much development popping up everywhere else, keeping the few natural spots we have left is more critical than ever.

​Honestly, the best move would be for the public to acquire this land and connect it to Tandy’s Lane Park. That would give growing communities in Adamstown and Lucan way more space for walking, playing sports, and just hanging out outdoors.

​Also, just to be clear—the actual Finnstown Castle building and its entrance on Newcastle Road aren't part of MA3.1. They can stay in private hands, and hopefully, someone will reopen it as a hotel down the road.

​Lucan needs spots that keep its history and local identity alive, while giving people a place to kick back in nature. Saving the Finnstown Castle grounds is a huge part of making that happen.
