Support retention of St Eds

St Edmundsbury is a valuable green space that contributes significantly to the character, heritage and environmental quality of the local area. Once lost to development, this important amenity cannot be replaced.

In addition, residential development at this location would place significant additional pressure on infrastructure that is already under strain. The surrounding road network experiences regular congestion, particularly during peak commuting and school drop-off and pick-up times. Additional housing would inevitably increase traffic volumes, leading to longer journey times and further congestion for existing residents.

Public transport in the area is also limited. While bus services exist, they are already busy, and reliability and frequency are not sufficient to support significant additional residential development. Without major improvements to public transport, it is likely that many new residents would remain dependent on private cars, further increasing traffic congestion.

For these reasons, as well as the importance of preserving St Edmundsbury as an open and valued space, I ask that the land is not rezoned for residential development
