Respect decision of elected Councillors

I fully support the decision of the elected members of South Dublin County Council not to proceed with the proposed re zoning of lands at St Edmunsbury and to retain it’s existing High Amenity status zoning.

This land needs to be protected for future generations. It is crucial to allow the biodiversity to be preserved . The lands act a significant flood plain, slowing risk of severe flooding in Strawberry Beds. The lands is an important part of the surrounding Liffey Valley parkland that is envisaged.

The Council’s own figures show that that the baseline housing requirements are already met with an excess of 30% under the the revised National Planning Framework. We see that already a disproportionate amount of housing planned in the Council area is in the Lucan area. There is no compelling argument to justify the change of zoning of these lands.

I respectfully request that the democratic decision is upheld.
