I strongly support retaining St Edmundsbury as High Amenity land.

• St Edmundsbury is an important part of the remaining green landscape and green corridor leading into the Liffey Valley Strategic Amenity Area. It contributes to the character and landscape of the wider Liffey Valley and should be protected.
• These open lands provide an important space for nature and wildlife and are enjoyed by local people. Green spaces such as this are increasingly important for the physical and mental wellbeing of the community.
• Lucan and the surrounding area are undergoing enormous development, with major housing developments already taking place in Adamstown and Clonburris. This makes it even more important to protect the remaining significant areas of open green space. St Edmundsbury is a valuable part of the landscape and should not be lost.
• The land provides an important green connection within the wider Liffey Valley. Protecting these remaining open spaces will help preserve the biodiversity, landscape and amenity value of the area for future generations.
• I believe that the long-term vision of a continuous Liffey Valley green corridor and parkland should be protected and encouraged. St Edmundsbury could form a part of an aspirational Liffey Valley National Park and should be retained as High Amenity land.

Our legacy should be to leave future generations a green lung along the Liffey Valley, rather than allowing every remaining open space to disappear.
