Future Use of the Coldcut Road Lands

Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to make a submission regarding the future of the lands at Coldcut Road.

I strongly believe this land represents a unique opportunity to provide a lasting benefit to the local community. Once open green space is lost to development, it can never be replaced. For that reason, I ask the Council to carefully consider retaining this land for community, recreational and public use.

There is already significant demand in the area for accessible green spaces, sports facilities, walking routes, community hubs and amenities for people of all ages and abilities. The site has enormous potential to become a shared community asset that can be enjoyed by children, young people, older people, families and people with disabilities.

I would encourage the Council to explore options that would keep the football pitches in place, preserve the open green areas, and make the golf course accessible to the wider public. The existing clubhouse could be repurposed as a community hub, café or restaurant, or used to provide services and facilities for local groups and organisations.

With the continued growth of the surrounding communities and thousands of new homes planned in the wider area, protecting land for recreation, wellbeing and community use is more important than ever. Future generations deserve access to quality public spaces that support physical health, mental wellbeing and social inclusion.

I respectfully ask South Dublin County Council to prioritise the long-term needs of the community and ensure this valuable land remains a public asset for the benefit of current and future generations.

Thank you for considering my submission.

regards

Yours faithfully,

Miriam Keegan
