Please retain St Eds as high amenity lands
Observation
I strongly support the proposal to retain St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity lands.
Having lived in Lucan for many years, I have seen first-hand how important our remaining green spaces are to the local community. St. Edmundsbury is a unique natural area that provides an important refuge for wildlife, supports local biodiversity and offers residents a place to enjoy nature, exercise and spend time outdoors.
As development increases throughout Lucan and the surrounding areas, it is becoming increasingly important to protect the green spaces that remain. Once these lands are lost, they are lost forever and can never be replaced. Protecting them will ensure future generations can continue to benefit from access to the ever reducing nature and open space.
Retaining St. Edmundsbury also supports the objectives of the National Planning Framework by protecting biodiversity, strengthening green infrastructure and enhancing community wellbeing. Preserving these lands will help maintain the unique character of Lucan while contributing to a healthier, more sustainable environment.
I respectfully ask South Dublin County Council to retain St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity lands and protect this valuable natural asset for the benefit of the local community, wildlife and future generations.
Thank you for considering my submission.
