St Edmundsbury
Observation
I wish to express my full support for the proposal to retain St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity Lands.
This designation is consistent with the objectives of the National Planning Framework, which seeks to protect and enhance natural amenities, preserve our heritage, and support the transition to a climate-resilient society. Retaining St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity Lands will help ensure that these important national and local planning objectives are upheld.
St. Edmundsbury is a valuable natural and landscape asset that contributes significantly to the character of the area. It provides important ecological connections that support local wildlife and biodiversity. Any future development on these lands would risk severing these ecological corridors, fragmenting habitats, and causing irreversible damage to the area's biodiversity.
The landscape also plays an important role in the environmental quality and visual amenity of the area. Development would undermine the integrity of this landscape, diminish its natural beauty, and erode the open green space that is valued by residents and visitors alike.
Protecting these lands is also an important step in building climate resilience. Green spaces provide multiple environmental benefits, including supporting biodiversity, improving air quality, managing surface water, and helping communities adapt to the impacts of climate change.
For these reasons, I strongly support the continued designation of St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity Lands and urge that it be protected from inappropriate development for the benefit of current and future generations.
