Dear Sirs

I strongly support the proposed material alteration to retain St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity lands.

As a resident of Lucan, I believe these lands are an irreplaceable environmental, recreational and landscape asset for our community. Retaining the High Amenity zoning is consistent with the objectives of the National Planning Framework, which seeks to protect biodiversity, strengthen green infrastructure, enhance climate resilience and preserve our natural and cultural heritage.

St. Edmundsbury forms part of an important green corridor within the Liffey Valley landscape. Its mature woodland, hedgerows and agricultural lands provide valuable habitat for wildlife and contribute to ecological connectivity across the area. Rezoning these lands for development would fragment habitats, reduce biodiversity and permanently alter the character and integrity of this important landscape.

The National Planning Framework also recognises the importance of protecting green infrastructure, preserving our natural capital and fostering a strong sense of place. Retaining St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity lands supports these objectives while safeguarding an important environmental resource for current and future generations.

As a member of the local community, I value knowing that places such as St. Edmundsbury continue to exist within an increasingly urban environment. Protecting these lands is important not only for biodiversity and climate resilience but also for the character, identity and long-term wellbeing of Lucan.

For these reasons, I strongly support the proposed material alteration to retain St. Edmundsbury as High Amenity lands and respectfully request that the elected members adopt this proposal.

Thank you for considering my submission.
