Stop the rezoning of lands at the Dublin City Sports and Social Club

I strongly oppose any proposal to rezone these coalcut lands in north clondalkin for housing and i fully support retaining the current Open Space zoning.

With the significant population growth in the area, there is an increasing need for recreational and sports facilities. Rather than reducing the amount of open space, the entire site should be preserved and developed to meet the needs of the growing community.

Hundreds of children from local clubs, including Collinstown FC and Palmerstown FC, regularly use these facilities. The community needs more sports infrastructure, not less. The former GAA pitch should be redeveloped as a full-size all-weather astro pitch to serve local clubs and young people, rather than being rezoned for housing.

Retaining the current Open Space zoning will ensure these lands continue to provide valuable recreational facilities and community amenities. Rezoning would primarily benefit a private developer through increased land values, while likely resulting in unaffordable homes for sale or rent. This land should be protected for the benefit of the local community, not for private profit.

For these reasons, I urge that the existing Open Space zoning be retained and that the site be developed to enhance sports, recreation, and community facilities for current and future residents.
