The Tallaght village ACA needs proactive heritage auditing and support to bring it up to the standard you would expect of the County Town and an expemplar ACA.
There is a proliferation of take aways, large obtrusive neon signs and a move away from the traditional style buildings and architecture on Main St and Main Road.
The village should have a community led design statement and focused enforcement to drive up the compliance to guidelines and levels of compliance.
Tallaght also needs a series of street art that depicts local heritage - people, times such as the monastic period, the Leinster Road Races, the many mills on the Dodder, the farms, the sheepdog trials, the ploughing competitions, the point-to-points, the famous writers.
Our history is not celebrated in an overt, public way which would be a permenant and positiuve educational and artistic way to share and recognise the history of Tallaght - back to the Parthalons.
